The heaviest rain occurred during the first 6 days of the month, with the 28th, when 3.3 millimetres (0.1 inches) of rain fell, the only other day after the 6th with measurable rain. Torrential rain on the 1st produced a total of 77.2 millimetres (3 inches). This appears to be one of the wettest February days in recent years, although on February 22nd 1969 over 150mm (6 inches) of rain fell quite widely over Malaga and the adjacent countryside.

Measurable rain fell on 7 days during February 2009, just a day more than normal.

Rainfall across southern Spain was generally above average, and for most of Andalucia it was a wet, or very wet, month. The table below shows the total rainfall for the month, and as a percentage of the long-term average; and also  the number of days with rain falling, plus the average. The number of days when measurable rain fell was mostly slightly  above average across the whole of southern Spain with the first week the wettest period in all parts.
