Temperatures

The highest temperature recorded during the month was 32 Celsius (90F) on the 11th, the only day during the month with a maximum above 30 Celsius (86F), There were 7 days in total when maxima exceeded 28 Celsius (82F), with 4 of these days occurring during the first fortnight, with the other 3 confined to the last 3 days of the month. On the 2nd, the temperature failed to rise above 17 Celsius (63F) but there were no other days with maximum temperatures under 21 Celsius (70F).

Thirdly, a distant storm occurred before dawn on the 20th. Fourthly and fifthly, severe thunderstorms began on the evening of the 21st, these lasting until the early hours of the 22nd. Hail was reported at Malaga Airport late on the evening of the 23rd.

Moderate or fresh, occasionally strong, northwest winds blew all day during the warmer weather, and during the unsettled spells winds were variable. Otherwise, the usual gentle northwesterly blew during the morning followed by light or gentle southeasterly sea breezes during the afternoon and evenings.
