Weather in Malaga during May 2007
Very wet but fairly warm.
Temperatures
The average maximum temperature during May 2007 in Malaga was 25 Celsius (77F), and that was over 2 Celsius (3.5F) above the long-term normal for the month. The average minimum was 16 Celsius (61F), also around 2 Celsius above normal.
The highest temperature recorded during the month was 32 Celsius (90F) on the 11th, the only day during the month with a maximum above 30 Celsius (86F), There were 7 days in total when maxima exceeded 28 Celsius (82F), with 4 of these days occurring during the first fortnight, with the other 3 confined to the last 3 days of the month. On the 2nd, the temperature failed to rise above 17 Celsius (63F) but there were no other days with maximum temperatures under 21 Celsius (70F).
There were several warm nights during May, and on the 20th and 30th minima stayed above 19 Celsius (66F). However, the warmest night was the 30th/31st with a minimum temperature of 20.5 Celsius (69F). There were only 6 nights during the month with minima below 15 Celsius (59F) with all of these occurring with the first 17 days. On the first 3 nights of May the temperature fell below 14 Celsius (57F), including a low of 13.0 Celsius (55F) on the night of the 2nd.

On the 2nd there was rain, moderate at times, for much of the day and on the 4th heavy showers occurred. There was no measurable rain from the 5th to the 21st, but an unsettled spell from the 22nd until the 25th produced some very heavy rain early on the 22nd that amounted to 29 millimetres (1.1 ins.).
Thunder
Thunder occurred on 5 days during May. Firstly during the afternoon of the 4th. Secondly, there was a brief thunderstorm with only a few spots of rain on the evening of the 5th. Thirdly, a distant storm occurred before dawn on the 20th. Fourthly and fifthly, severe thunderstorms began on the evening of the 21st, these lasting until the early hours of the 22nd. Hail was reported at Malaga Airport late on the evening of the 23rd.
Wind
Moderate or fresh, occasionally strong, northwest winds blew all day during the warmer weather, and during the unsettled spells winds were variable. Otherwise, the usual gentle northwesterly blew during the morning followed by light or gentle southeasterly sea breezes during the afternoon and evenings.
