Thunder

Thunder occurred in Malaga and across much of Andalucia on the 19th.

Wind

Pressure was high over northern Iberia and northwest Europe for much of February. As a result, south Spain, on the southern flank of the anticyclone, experienced frequent winds from an east or southeasterly direction. Between the 9th and 24th, winds were almost constantly blowing from the sea, often fresh or strong, and this led to significant erosion of beaches in the Malaga area. Apart from the inconvenience of almost permanently salt encrusted windows near to the coast, the damage to plant life was extensive. Palm and banana trees fared particularly badly, along with hibiscuses.
