Weather in Malaga during January 2007

A dry start to the year but notable for the destructive gales that occurred on the 28th.

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during January 2007 in Malaga was 17 Celsius (63F), and that's a shade above the long-term normal for the month. The average minimum was 8 Celsius (46F), a value that can be expected at this time of year. 

The highest temperature recorded  during the month was 22 Celsius (72F) on the 4th. On the following day the maximum was a fraction of a degree under 21 Celsius (69F), otherwise maxima remained below 20 Celsius (68F).  The best week of the month was between the 15th and 22nd when maxima were consistently between 17 and 19 Celsius (63-66F),  sunshine was in abundance, and winds were light.  There were several rather cool days towards the end of January and on the 26th the maximum temperature was only 12 Celsius (54F), the coolest day of the month. 

The mildest night occurred on the 4th/5th when the temperature only fell to 13 Celsius (55F). Generally, minima were between 7 and 9 Celsius (45-48F) with only 3 other occasions when night-time readings stayed above 10 Celsius (50F).  There were only 3 nights when temperatures fell below 5 Celsius (41F), these being the consecutive nights 25th, 26th and 27th. The coldest of them was the 25th when a dawn low of 2,8 Celsius (37F) was registered.

Sea temperatures, around 15 or 16 Celsius (59-61F) early in the month, fell a little to 14 or 15 Celsius (57-59F) during the final week of January. 

Rain

A dry start to the year with only 15.8 mm (0.6 ins) measured during the month and this represents only just under 25% of the long-term average for the month. No measurable rain fell until the 22nd, and it was only the last week of the month that produced some useful amounts of rain. The wettest day was ther 29th with 5.6 mm (0.2 ins). Rain fell on 5 days during January, with the 3 consecutive days 28th,29th and 30th accounting for over 80% of the monthly total.

Wind
