Weather in Malaga during May 2006

A warm and dry month but no records broken

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during May 2006 in Malaga was 25 Celsius (77F), and the average minimum was 18 Celsius (64F). These values were about 2 degrees Celsius (3.6F) above the long-term average. May last year (2005) was a fraction warmer, but it was considerably warmer than May 2004.

The highest temperature recorded was 32.5 Celsius (91F) on 19th, cosely followed by 32.4 Celsius on the 30th. On the 18th a high of 31.4 Celsius (88F) was recorded but values only exceeded 27 Celsius (81F) on 2 other days. The lowest maximum temperature was on the 3rd with a value of 20.3 Celsius (68F).

Nights were consistently warm, probably due, in part, to the continued urbanisation of Malaga. The lowest temperature occurred on the morning of the 7th with a minimum of 14.2 Celsius (57F). There were 2 warm nights with stiff northwest winds and on these nights, the 18th/19th and 29th/30th, temperatures stayed above 20 Celsius (68F).

Rain

Rainfall in Malaga during  May 2006 was confined to the spell 2nd to 4th. The total of 11.7 mm (0.46 inches) represents just over 50% of the long-term average. Thunder occurred once during the month, on the evening of the 2nd. Sea fog, often at its most frequent at this time of year, was entirely absent from this stretch of coast during May 2006.
